Episode 11: James Bond and the Secret Service

There may be no longer running film franchise than James Bond. James Bond has been a mainstay in films since 1962 and shows no signs of disappearing. It's not hard to believe that there aren't a couple un-produced Bond scripts and we finally tracked one down! James Bond of the Secret Service is the script that eventually became Never Say Never again, which is a remake of the MGM James Bond film Thunderball. This film has a history of it's own that is worth diving in to but for now we are just looking at this early early draft of the film.

LogLine: James Bond has to deal with the villainous organization SPECTRE as they attempt to blackmail the word for control of the Earth's oceans.

Writers: Kevin McClory, Sean Connery, Len Deighton

Episode 8: Ares

Well this is the first Black List script to make it onto Shelved. The Black List is a list of scripts circulating Hollywood that have high praise or are highly sought out. Ares is an interesting Sci-Fi script that feels like The Bourne Identity meets The Martian.

Written by: Geneva Robertson-Dworet

Logline: The survival story of an astronaut whose space capsule crash lands in the African desert and whose mission to space was part of a larger conspiracy.

Episode 7: X-Men

Written by Andrew Kevin Walker who also wrote the Spider-Man script we looked at, X-Men was another Walker script that was shopped around in the early 90's. Originally tapped for James Cameron,  he eventually chose Spider-Man as his project and neither ended up coming to fruition. This script is very different from the X-Men movie we got in the early 2000s but is quite an interesting take on the franchise. You can find the script on our tumblr www.shelvedfilmpodcast.tumblr.com. You can follow the show on Twitter @shelvedpodcast.
