Episode 49: Daredevil Season 3 Review

Well this week was supposed to be Freddy vs Jason but that episode might be moved to Halloween or the first November episode due to some scheduling conflicts and personal news (that I can't talk about yet.) So instead of missing a week I decided to get some reviews up on some shows that I just finished watching this weekend. First off is two Marvel Netflix season in Daredevil Season 3 and Jessica Jones Season 2. I also throw in Supergirl Season 1 as I just finished that on my way to marathon all of the DC TV shows to get to the Batwoman cross over.

Shocktober 2018: Episode 7 - Little Evil

Little Evil is a Netflix film that quickly caught my attention because of the cast. It features a lot of actors that I think are very funny or am a big fan of. I decided to throw it on for Shocktober and see if the movie lived up to the caliber.

"Gary, who has just married Samantha, the woman of his dreams, discovers that her six-year-old son may be the Antichrist."

Written and Directed By: Eli Craig

Shocktober 2018: Episode 6 - The VVitch

This is a movie that I have been dying to see since it's first trailer. It had always eluded me until it recently popped up on Netflix. I know a lot of people were put off by the accurate 1600's way of speaking, but does this movie live up to the hype?

"A family in 1630s New England is torn apart by the forces of witchcraft, black magic and possession."

Written and Directed By: Robert Eggers

Shocktober 2018: Episode 5 - Death Note

I am a fairly casual manga fan and while I was always interested in Death Note, I never actually got around to reading it. Since the movie dropped on Netflix I always saw it as maybe a gateway into the source material. Well after the movie I started reading the books, but what does that say about the film?

"A high school student named Light Turner discovers a mysterious notebook that has the power to kill anyone whose name is written within its pages, and launches a secret crusade to rid the world of criminals."

Directed by: Adam Wingard

Shocktober 2018: Episode 4 - The Dark Tower

I swear I didn't watch this many Stephen King movies on purpose! This was actually the first film I watched of the season and it just got pushed down the line of reviews. Based on what is known as King's magnum opus, does the movie live up to the book series?

"The last Gunslinger: Roland Deschain, has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim, also known as the Man in Black, and determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower that holds the universe together. With the fate of the world at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle, as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black."

Directed by: Nikolaj Arcel

Written By: Akiva Goldsman & Nikolaj Arcel & Jeff Pinkner

Shocktober 2018: Episode 3 - The Voices

I will pretty much watch any movie starring Ryan Reynolds, so when I saw that he was doing a horror comedy I knew I wanted to check it out. Alas it was given a limited release and never crossed my path until it recently popped up on Netflix. It was finally my chance to give The Voices a shot!

"A likable guy pursues his office crush with the help of his evil talking pets, but things turn sinister when she stands him up for a date."

Directed by: Marjane Satrapi

Episode 46: Iron Man

Before there was a Marvel Cinematic Universe that launched with 2008's Iron Man, there was almost a different Iron Man there was almost a different Iron Man. It's hard to imagine a version of Iron Man without Robert Downey Jr. but it's a reality we almost could have had. This version of the story differs quite a lot from the version we know today, but would it have made a good movie? Would we have gotten an Avengers movie with a Toby Maguire Spider-Man? Probably not but it's still fun to imagine.

Written By: Alfred Gough & Miles Millar & David Hayter

Logline: The origin story of Marvel's Avenger Iron Man! When Tony Stark realizes his tech is being stolen and used to create illegal weapons he must navigate the world of conspiracy to get to the bottom of this treachery. He might also need a new weapon of his own.
